Frances Karen Smith was born in Altus, Oklahoma, and always dreamed of becoming a mother, teacher, and writer. She raised four wonderful children, now has seven grandchildren, and dedicated 49 years to teaching. With degrees in Social Studies, Spanish, and English from Louisiana State University, the University of Oklahoma, and Southwestern State College, Frances shaped countless young lives. Now retired, she fulfills her lifelong passion for writing while exploring quilting and art, creating heartwarming stories like Solar Bear and Polar Bear.
